Stitch n Save: Wig Guide

Lace Front Wig

Anyone whose hair grows from their scalp never thought twice about it. Where else do you want your hair to grow from. Well, we only think of the hair that grows other places like facial hairs and hair on our legs under arms and other undesirable places. But the hair that grows out of our scalp we never think twice about.

But when people unfortunately don't have hair growing from their head that when they start thinking about it. First, when your missing something your appreciate having it. You don't appreciate that you wake up feeling good everyday until one day you wake up feeling sick. You don't appreciate that you don't feel your hand until one day it begins to hurt. Sometimes when we see other people missing something we also appreciate it for a short while (very short while.) You meet someone without a leg and you appreciate your leg. You meet someone who wasn't lucky enough to have children and you start appreciating your two little brats. You see someone living in a shack with cracks in the wall and leaks in the roof and you start appreciating your small, but fully "enclosed" home.

You see someone without hair, and you certainly appreciate that you were given the great gift of hair. Hair makes a person look like a person as opposed to an animal. When someone loses their hair they can sort of appreciate that they had their in retrospect. But it will probably be more of a guilt feeling that they did not appreciate it when they had it. But more than that, hair growing from the head becomes such an issue is because granted they need a hair replacement and it will never be too pleasant for them. But not everybody else needs to know that they are wearing a hair replacement. So the trick is how to make the hair replacement hair look like its growing out of their head.

In recent years they've come up with scalp colored caps and the like. But they latest technology is the best yet (until they come up with something better. On Lace front wigs, the caps are cut short about 2-3 inches (something like falls.) Then to the front a very thin French Lace or Welded Mono lace is attached. This lace is so thin, it is for all practical purposes clear and the hair is attached to that. It actually looks like the hair is coming right out of the scalp. What do you say to that great technology.

It is best not to have the hairs too thick in the lace front area so your scalp can actually show through. These "Lace Front" Wigs are very fragile and have to be dealt with, with great care. Even so, the generally need to be replaced every six months.

Lace Front Wigs are great for people who are bald or nearly bald. Otherwise the scalp won't show but your hair itself will show and hair growing out of hair will never look too natural.

And though you will never be able to appreciate hair growing from your head again unless your hair grows back, you can definitely appreciate hair replacement systems that make it look as the hair is growing from your head. And appreciate that you are experiencing hair loss when you are, because if you experienced it even a few years earlier you would not have been privy to such great solutions.
