Human Hair Weave

The human hair weave is an old old fable (I just made up now).

Old (I'm into the theme of old now) Grandpa Sam (as everyone used to call him) had a weaving loom on which he was able to weave all sorts of nice cloth items. He wove yards and yards of beautiful cloth which he gave to the town's people to sew themselves clothing. He wove towels and he wove linen. He loved doing this for the townspeople and he charged very little. All the towns people used to line up and wait for their cloth or their towel to be ready. It went on like this for a long time and the old man really loved weaving and the towns people loved getting the weaved items for very cheap.

But then the news of this old weaver got around to the surrounding villages. People from all over started to come for material or a towel or whatever else their heart desired. The lines at old Grandpa's weaving work station got very long. Old Grandpa worked and worked. He worked through the morning hours, through the afternoon hours, and through the wee hours of the night until his little old eyes drooped down while he was still sitting at his weave.

The townspeople saw what was happening to little old Grandpa and they felt very bad. They wanted to make a rule that no outsiders could come to old Grandpa's weaving work station but old Grandpa would not hear of it. He said it was mean and he could not be mean. Then the towns people suggested that old Grandpa close his weaving work station completely. But old Grandpa lived weaving and breathed weaving and he could not imagine what life would be like without weaving.

Finally one town's person had an excellent idea. Old Grandpa didn't quite understand but he agreed to try.

That day as the lines got longer and longer Mr. Ideanick announced, "Today Old Grandpa Sam got a new Machine (though the new machine did look very much like the old one.) This machine is called the human hair weave machine."Even more people crowded around to see this new Human Hair Weave machine. "Today old Grandpa will be weaving special Human Hair weave cloth. Anyone who wants a piece of this human hair weave cloth, must bring some human for old Grandpa sam to weave. The more hair you bring the bigger "human hair weave cloth," you get. In a minute the lines dispersed. All the people ran home in search of human hair. The barber shops were full of people collecting the scraps of the hair they had cut. Some people were giving their kids short hair cuts. Others cut their wives hair or their own hair. Soon people started bringing their human hair collections back to old Grandpa sam. Grandpa Sam wove their little pieces of human hair together, but of course it was not enough strands to make a big cloth only a little cloth.

Mr. Ideanick stood right near Old Grandpa Sam. He watched the people's disappointed faces as old Grandpa handed each person their little piece of "human hair weave" cloth.

"Oh, this "human hair weave" cloth. is perfect for the front of a shirt," he would exclaim. Or , "this "human hair weave" cloth. will make a great finishing touch to your linen set." Or "You can use this "human hair weave" cloth a beautiful doily." The people left satisfied. But as soon as they got home their "human hair weave" cloth started unraveling and hair started shedding all over the place and the people got very upset. In no time everyone stopped coming to Old Grandpa Sam's Weaving Work shop.

As soon as that happened Old Grandpa Sam stopped weaving the silly "human hair weave cloth." and started weaving his old cloth again for all his towns people. And the people from all the other villages never returned.
