Curly Wigs
Curly Wig sounds simple enough. But there are really many different type of curly wigs. The classification of a curly wig usually depends how tightly the hair in the curly wig is curled.
The type of curls the curly wig has will determine what styles look good with it.
Wavy Curly Wigs
These curly wigs are most close to straight wigs. The hair forms very loose curls that almost look like waves in the sea. It falls nicely down the scalp, but moves out and in the process. Wavy curly wigs have much more body then straight wigs. Wavy curly wigs are a very versatile type of wig which can most easily be switched to straight wigs or truly curly wigs. These wigs look very natural with a light layering and highlights. Many retro wigs have wavy hair.
Truly curly wigs
In truly curly wigs the hair forms actual "s" shaped loops. The actual hair can actually be soft as the hair in straight hair wigs but the curls will make it much denser and much thicker. They also don't look as shiny because the light does not reflect on them. Truly curly wigs can be short or long but they need layering and shape so that they don't just look like one big mop.
Truly curly wigs made of human hair can be straightened to a wavy state but it is quite difficult to completely straighten it.
Kinky Curly Wigs
Kinky Curly wigs are made with tightly coiled hair. These wigs are also known as afro wigs since this type of kinky hair is mostly found in the African population. Afro hair is a popular style wear the curls are worn loose extending out in all directions like a porcupine. These Afro curly wigs are worn proudly by African Americans to remember their African Heritage. Afro Curly Wigs are also worn as costumes. Colorful afro curly wigs are sold as clown wigs.
